Turn your slab into the finished floor

Many Arizona homes are built on a concrete slab. Instead of covering it, you can make it the floor. AZF Experts is a licensed Arizona flooring contractor (ROC #355804) based in Buckeye, with 288,787 square feet of concrete polishing completed. We bring that experience to homes across the Phoenix metro and the rest of the state.

Homeowners come to us when they are:

  • Pulling up carpet or tile and want to finish the concrete underneath
  • Remodeling a living area, kitchen, casita or home office and want a modern, low-maintenance floor
  • Refreshing a tired patio, walkway or entry
  • Adding color to plain gray concrete with stain or dye

Concrete finishes for homes

01

Polished concrete

Grinding, honing and progressive polishing develop the slab itself into the floor, finished to the sheen and aggregate exposure you choose.

02

Stained & dyed

Color added to the concrete for warm, earthy or modern tones, alone or combined with polishing.

03

Grind & seal

The surface is ground and then protected with a sealer. A separate finish from mechanical polishing, with its own look and care.

04

Decorative patios

Stained and sealed concrete, or a decorative flake coating with a UV-stable topcoat, for patios, walkways and entries.

Why preparation shapes the result

With polished and decorative concrete, the slab is the floor, so the work starts with understanding it. We review the concrete, prepare the surface, make repairs and work around joints and edges. Grinding and honing set the surface before polishing brings up the finish.

Be aware that every slab is different. Existing patches, joints, old adhesive marks and variations in the concrete can remain visible after polishing or staining. Many homeowners like that character. We’ll walk you through what to expect from your floor before work begins.

Concrete finishes in Arizona heat and sun

Indoors

Polished concrete is a mechanical finish, densified and protected rather than covered with a thick coating. Monsoon dust can be dust-mopped away, and care follows the protection product’s guidance. If a room gets strong direct sun through windows or sliding doors, let us know. It affects which color and protection products we recommend.

Outdoors

Patios and walkways take full sun, heat and dust. For decorative coatings, we use UV-stable polyaspartic or urethane topcoats to help protect the color. Sealer and topcoat choices depend on sun exposure and how the area is used, including near pools.

Decorative concrete FAQ

What is the difference between polished concrete and grind and seal?

Polished concrete is refined mechanically through progressive grinding and polishing, then densified and protected. Grind and seal is ground and then covered with a sealer. They are separate services with different looks and care, and we’ll help you compare them for your space.

Can you polish the slab after I remove carpet or tile?

Often, yes. Grinding removes old adhesive and opens the surface. Patches, joints, old marks and slab variations can remain visible, so we assess the concrete first and explain what to expect.

Can concrete be colored?

Yes. We offer stained and dyed concrete, on its own or combined with polishing, as well as natural gray finishes.

Do you do decorative patios?

Yes. We finish patios, walkways and entries with stain and sealer or a decorative flake coating, topped with a UV-stable polyaspartic or urethane topcoat for Arizona sun.
